If you’re anything like me, you’re constantly adding to your “to-read” list. I love learning by reading, and I wanted to share some books that have shaped my business, mindset, systems, and everything else that comes with entrepreneurship. I hope by the end of this, you’ll have some new books to add to your “to-read” list!
Have you ever set a New Year’s Resolution and completely failed within a few weeks? I think we all have. That’s because, for 8/10 people, it’s ineffective to set year-long goals. Instead, authors Brian and Michael teach readers to set 12-week goals. This shortened timeline feels more realistic and allows you to get more accomplished in 12 weeks than most do in 12 months.
This book is the encouragement you need! Being an entrepreneur has its ups and downs, so sometimes you need a little motivation to continue. This book helps change self-sabotaging beliefs about yourself as a business owner and what you can achieve. Jen is hilarious and shares authentic stories about her entrepreneurial journey that are sure to leave you feeling ready to take on your next challenge.
This is a wildly popular book for a reason! Marie Forleo was raised to believe everything can be figured out; you just have to be creative in your problem-solving. She teaches readers how to think more creatively when faced with obstacles in their businesses. I believe this is one of the best business books to read.
Robert Cialdini outlines six principles that are proven to influence people’s decision-making. They are reciprocation, commitment and consistency, social proof, liking, authority, and scarcity. You can use these principles in your business to better understand your customers and become more effective at persuading. Just remember to use this newly learned power for good!
Every business owner faces obstacles. Imposter syndrome, mental health struggles, and other obstacles are dealt with every day. Author Bola Sokunbi addresses these common challenges and how to overcome them. She shares several stories and pieces of advice on how women, particularly women of color, can create successful businesses and achieve their dreams.
This book lays out easy-to-follow steps to create the business you’ve always dreamed of. You’ll learn how to manage your business so your personal life prospers as well. That’s why we’re in business in the first place, isn’t it?!
Brene Brown has several books, but Rising Strong is one of my favorites. You have to be brave to be an entrepreneur. The constant fear of failure and the need to be perfect is something many business owners struggle with. Rising Strong shares several stories about people being brave, failing, and trying again. Failure is natural, and when you read the stories of people rising above their failures, you’ll feel encouraged to do the same.
Are you an introverted entrepreneur? Then this book is for you! You may feel lost in this world that’s constantly talking; you prefer to be listening anyway. Susan Cain argues that introverts are undervalued in the business world, but we NEED them for the world to be a better place. Quiet explores how introverts are seen by others and how they view themselves.
This is one of the best time management books. The 80/20 principle is how people get more done with less time out of their day. How do they do that? Focusing your efforts on the 20% that will truly move the needle in your business. It can apply to nearly every aspect of your business.
If you’re looking to reduce the number of hours you work each week while maintaining (or growing!) your current income, this book is for you. Tim explains exactly how he works fewer hours but makes significantly more money from his business. You can replicate his recipe for success in your business, too!
If you need some inspiration, Rachel will give it to you. In her book Unfiltered, she shares personal stories about how she went from food stamps to owning two multi-million dollar businesses. You’ll learn strategies to build a sustainable business, even when the rollercoaster of entrepreneurship is in a valley.
You need to read this book if your business is still a side hustle. Charlene talks about how to grow your side hustle into a successful business. She shares ten mindset shifts that you can put into action as soon as you’re done reading, which will set you up for success.
These books have inspired, motivated, and encouraged me to grow my business into something I love. I always recommend these books to female entrepreneurs. I want to hear your business book recommendations, too! Send me a message on Instagram with your favorite business books!
